At Healthy Innovations we love Pilates because it is an opportunity to teach people about their bodies and how they move. The advantage of doing Pilates with us is that all classes are instructed by a physiotherapist so that you can be confident that you are performing the exercises correctly and getting the most benefit from your class. Pilates exercises enhance core stability and muscular balance so that we can learn to move freely, efficiently and without pain.
All studio classes require an initial assessment whilst mat classes do not (see below for more information on each). We typically run all classes in blocks of 10 over school terms and allow 2 weeks during the holidays for any make up sessions (providing you have cancelled prior to our 24 hour policy). Studio classes have upto 4 people in a class and mat classes have upto 12 people in a class.

In the mat Pilates class we aim to teach you how to effectively engage your core, stabilize your trunk, improve your posture and breathe in a way that optimizes your body’s function. We build on the repertoire from week to week and modify the exercises as required so that you get the most out of the program. The class is a complete workout that strengthens and stretches the entire body leaving you feeling rejuvenated.
Studio Pilates incorporates the traditional Pilates machines (including the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and Barrels). The equipment is generally spring loaded and is used to either assist you to move or to provide resistance depending on the goals of the exercise. In order to participate in the studio class at Healthy Innovations you are required to have an initial assessment conducted by one of our physiotherapists. This will allow a custom designed program to be developed which addresses your goals. This customisation ensures you get the most benefit out of the program.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Should I Bring
You need to bring a pair of socks (non-slip are best), a towel and a bottle of water.
What do I wear?
Gym wear is best (ie. a pair of leggings or shorts and a t-shirt). Very loose clothing can get caught up in the springs. It is highly recommended that longer hair is tied back so it does not get caught in the equipment.
How long are the classes?
The Pilates Mat and studio classes are both 55 minutes in duration.
Do Health fund rebates apply?
Some Health funds do give a rebate for classes instructed by a physiotherapist. All of our classes are taught by certified physiotherapists so check your health fund to see if a rebate applies to you.
